Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, Ahsan Iqbal, has departed for a five-day official visit to China aimed at deepening bilateral cooperation in space technology, CPEC Phase II, trade, and infrastructure development.
During the visit, Iqbal will represent Pakistan as the guest of honour at the launch ceremony of a Pakistani satellite and hold strategic meetings with top Chinese officials in Beijing. The trip comes at a crucial time as both nations gear up for the upcoming Joint Cooperation Committee (JCC) meeting and the anticipated visit of Pakistan’s Prime Minister to China.
The minister’s agenda includes discussions on the expanded scope of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, particularly its second phase focused on industrial zones, agricultural modernisation, and high-tech collaboration. He is also expected to explore further trade and investment opportunities while reviewing key infrastructure initiatives under CPEC.
Before his departure, Ahsan Iqbal emphasised Pakistan’s commitment to learning from China’s development model, highlighting ongoing efforts to enhance cooperation in key sectors. He described CPEC Phase II as a practical expression of the time-tested Pakistan-China friendship and reaffirmed Islamabad’s resolve to build sustainable and technology-driven economic growth through this strategic partnership.
