Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal has directed authorities in Islamabad to urgently address issues raised by a Chinese company that announced it would suspend operations in Pakistan and China, including a facility in Gwadar.
The move followed concerns raised by Han Geng Group, which cited administrative and policy-related challenges affecting its business operations.
Swift Government Intervention
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the Planning Minister took immediate notice of the situation. They instructed relevant departments to review grievances and ensure quick resolution.
As a result, authorities initiated engagement with the company to resolve operational issues and restore confidence in ongoing investments.
Commitment to Investor Facilitation
Ahsan Iqbal emphasized that all bureaucratic and operational barriers faced by investors under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor China–Pakistan Economic Corridor would be removed on a priority basis.
He stressed that investor confidence remains central to Pakistan’s economic strategy, especially in large-scale infrastructure and industrial projects.
Company Reverses Closure Decision
Following government assurances and swift engagement, Han Geng Group withdrew its earlier announcement of shutting down operations.
Moreover, the company confirmed that it would continue its business activities in Pakistan and China, including its operations in Gwadar.
Focus on Investment Stability
The development highlights Pakistan’s continued efforts to maintain a stable investment environment for Chinese enterprises.
In addition, it reflects the importance of rapid policy response in sustaining long-term economic partnerships under CPEC.
