Federal Minister for Climate Change and Environmental Coordination Dr. Musadik Malik met Mr. Ma Jun, President of the Institute of Finance and Sustainability, Institute of Finance and Sustainability in Islamabad to discuss cooperation in green finance and climate innovation.
The meeting focused on strengthening financial and technological collaboration for sustainable development between Pakistan and China.
China’s Green Finance Model Shared
Mr. Ma Jun briefed the minister on China’s Green Accelerator Program, launched in 2016 with a framework of policy recommendations to support sustainable growth.
He explained that China has developed one of the world’s largest green financing systems, valued at around USD 7 trillion, which supports large-scale climate and energy projects.
Leadership in Clean Energy Technology
He also highlighted China’s strong position in global clean energy manufacturing. The country produces a major share of the world’s wind and solar equipment, along with a significant portion of electric vehicles.
Moreover, he emphasized the importance of linking finance, technology, and carbon markets to develop scalable green projects.
Global Climate Innovation Examples
Both sides discussed international examples of climate innovation, including biochar production in Bangladesh, precision irrigation systems in China and Uzbekistan, and desert agriculture initiatives in Abu Dhabi.
These models demonstrated how climate solutions can be adapted to different regional needs.
Pakistan’s Green Entrepreneurship Initiative
Dr. Musadik Malik shared details of Pakistan’s upcoming “Green Fields” initiative. It aims to connect young entrepreneurs with investors to promote green business ventures.
In addition, the program focuses on encouraging youth participation in climate-friendly economic activities and innovation.
Commitment to Sustainable Cooperation
The Minister appreciated China’s leadership in green finance and technology. He stressed that international collaboration is essential for building practical and scalable climate solutions.
Furthermore, he noted that Pakistan is actively seeking global partnerships to accelerate its transition toward a sustainable and low-carbon economy.
