Pakistan and China are marking 75 years of diplomatic relations. Their partnership continues to grow under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

According to a factsheet from the Chinese Embassy in Islamabad, CPEC has brought major economic gains. It has attracted $25.93 billion in investment. It has also created more than 261,000 jobs.

CPEC is a key part of China’s Belt and Road Initiative. It has added over 8,000 megawatts of power capacity. It has also developed 510 kilometres of roads and 886 kilometres of transmission lines.

Gwadar is becoming a major regional hub. The port has been expanded with deep-water berths. These can handle large cargo ships and oil tankers.

The Gwadar International Airport is also under development. It is designed as a modern facility for large aircraft. This will improve international connectivity.

Social development projects are also increasing in Gwadar. The China-Pakistan Friendship Hospital has treated over 350,000 patients. A desalination plant produces 3,000 tons of fresh water daily.

More than 10,000 households have received solar panels. This helps improve access to clean energy in remote areas.

Education projects are also expanding. The Technical and Vocational Institute in Gwadar provides skill training every year. Local schools have also been upgraded.

Across Pakistan, CPEC projects cover energy, transport, and industry. In Punjab, projects like the Sahiwal power plant and Karot Hydropower Plant support energy supply. The Lahore Orange Line Metro improves urban transport.

In Sindh, wind and nuclear energy projects are increasing electricity production. The Sukkur-Multan Motorway has reduced travel time across the province.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Suki Kinari Hydropower Project generates 884 MW of clean energy. It also reduces coal use and carbon emissions.

Industrial zones are also expanding. The Haier-Ruba Special Economic Zone is expected to create thousands of jobs. It will also boost exports.

China remains Pakistan’s top trading partner for 12 years. Bilateral trade exceeded $25 billion in 2025. Chinese investment also made up 53.2% of Pakistan’s FDI in FY 2025-26.

Cooperation is expanding beyond infrastructure. The two countries have formed a university consortium with 130 institutions. Pakistani students are also receiving training in China.

Space cooperation is also growing. Pakistani satellites have been launched with Chinese support.

Cultural ties are also strengthening. The film Ba’Tie Girl was released as a joint production. Chinese films are also being screened in Pakistan.

Humanitarian cooperation continues during crises. China provided millions in aid during the 2025 floods. It also delivered medical support, relief goods, and health kits to affected regions.

Overall, CPEC continues to reshape Pakistan’s economy. It strengthens infrastructure, energy, education, and trade ties between Pakistan and China.
