Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi visited Dir Lower to inaugurate two major development projects, including the 40.8-megawatt Koto Hydropower Project. Constructed at a cost of Rs21.7 billion, the plant is expected to generate 207 million units of electricity annually, producing an estimated Rs2.4 billion in revenue and strengthening the province’s energy security.
During the visit, Afridi also opened the 18.5-kilometre Tormang-Razgram Road, built for Rs1.5 billion. The new road will enhance connectivity, reduce travel time, and support socio-economic growth, linking remote communities to markets, schools, and healthcare facilities.
Speaking at the ceremony, CM Afridi highlighted the government’s long-term strategy to tap Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s hydropower potential, promote clean and green energy, and generate employment opportunities through infrastructure expansion. Officials added that these projects will improve regional infrastructure, support local industries, and foster sustainable development in Dir Lower.
