The 2026 Summer Davos forum wrapped up on Thursday in Dalian, China. This year, the three-day event focused heavily on a clear message: accelerating technology and global uncertainty make innovation more crucial than ever.
Officially known as the World Economic Forum’s Annual Meeting of the New Champions, the conference centered on the theme “Innovating at Scale.” More than 1,700 leaders from over 90 countries gathered to discuss how to turn fresh ideas into better jobs, stronger economies, and sustainable growth.
Summer Davos Forum and Global Cooperation
Attendees filled the conference halls to debate the future of artificial intelligence, humanoid robots, quantum technology, and advanced manufacturing. Discussions also highlighted breakthroughs in biomedicine and green industries. China has rapidly become a key innovator and a vital partner in these cutting-edge fields.
At the opening plenary, Chinese Premier Li Qiang emphasized that innovation drives China’s long-term economic resilience. He introduced “China Opportunity 2.0,” promising global partners broader access to advanced technologies and shared development benefits. In his view, cross-border cooperation is the only way to break through the current global growth slump.
Scaling Innovations in a Fragmented World
Even as geopolitical tensions divide nations, technology connects them. WEF Managing Director Mirek Dusek noted at the closing ceremony that modern innovations remain deeply interconnected. He urged nations to build better investment architectures and policy frameworks to deploy these technologies quickly.
The annual gathering concluded with a look toward the future. Next year, the forum will head to the northern harbor city of Tianjin. Since its launch in 2007, the Summer Davos forum has alternated every year between Dalian and Tianjin.
