China’s top diplomat, Wang Yi, held a crucial meeting with Ali Mohammed Hammed Al Shamsi in New Delhi on Tuesday. Shamsi serves as the secretary-general of the Supreme National Security Council for the United Arab Emirates. During their discussion, Wang emphasized that China and the UAE remain deeply committed comprehensive strategic partners.
Consequently, Beijing is fully ready to work alongside the UAE to strengthen mutual confidence. Wang noted that both nations must make joint efforts to maintain high-level exchanges. By doing so, they hope to unlock the full potential of their bilateral cooperation and push relations to a much higher level.
Navigating the Middle East Conflict
Naturally, regional stability was a major focus of the conversation. Wang pointed out that China and the UAE have maintained incredibly close communication since the outbreak of the recent conflict involving the U.S., Israel, and Iran. Fortunately, the conflict has recently taken a positive turn toward dialogue. However, Wang warned that achieving lasting peace still depends heavily on the joint efforts of all parties involved.
To achieve this stability, the Chinese diplomat outlined three urgent priorities for the region:
A Permanent Ceasefire: First, all relevant parties must commit to a permanent ceasefire and effectively implement the recently signed memorandum of understanding.
Securing Trade Routes: Second, normal navigation through the Strait of Hormuz must be restored immediately to keep this vital economic lifeline unimpeded.
A New Security Framework: Third, Middle Eastern nations need to learn from past turmoil, rebuild mutual trust, and explore a new regional security architecture.
A Shared Vision for Peace
In response, Shamsi warmly praised the deep connection between the two nations, stating that UAE-China relations hold massive historical and strategic significance. In fact, the UAE officially views China as its most important partner and a sincere friend. Therefore, the Emirates are eager to expand cooperation across various fields for mutual benefit.
Furthermore, Shamsi expressed his sincere thanks to Beijing for its responsible leadership. He highly appreciates China’s positive role in promoting a political settlement to the Middle East conflict. Moving forward, the UAE is fully willing to maintain close coordination with China. Together, they hope to secure international shipping lanes, protect global supply chains, and realize lasting regional peace through diplomatic channels.
