EU Appreciates Pakistan’s Mediation Roles in the Middle East
During the high-level exchanges, EU Foreign Policy Chief Kaja Kallas commended Pakistan for its constructive mediation between the United States and Iran, specifically highlighting Islamabad’s role in hosting the Islamabad Talks. Both delegations underscored the necessity of pursuing negotiated solutions to regional friction, with a particular focus on ensuring free, safe, and unhindered maritime passage through the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz. Pakistan expressed its appreciation for the European Union’s consistent backing of these diplomatic initiatives and welcomed the frequent, ongoing communication between EU and Pakistani leadership on regional security.
Exchanging views on Gaza
Turning to the situation in the occupied Palestinian Territory, both parties welcomed the international diplomatic push to conclude the war in Gaza. They jointly emphasized that all involved factions must strictly adhere to ceasefire commitments to facilitate safe, rapid, and unimpeded delivery of vital humanitarian assistance. Furthermore, the EU and Pakistan agreed that achieving a permanent end to hostilities is crucial to laying the groundwork for the long-term stabilization, recovery, and reconstruction of Gaza.
Concluding their discussions on the region, Pakistan and the European Union reaffirmed their unified support for taking practical, concrete steps toward achieving long-term and sustainable peace. They asserted that this stability must be rooted in a two-state solution that aligns with international law, the United Nations Charter, and relevant UN resolutions. The 9th Round of the Strategic Dialogue will be held in Brussels.
