China-Europe are set to launch the jointly developed SMILE satellite on April 9, marking a major milestone in space science collaboration between the two sides.The satellite, developed by the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the European Space Agency, has completed all pre-launch preparations and is now integrated with the Vega-C launch vehicle at the Guiana Space Centre.
Testing at the launch site confirmed that all systems are functioning properly, with teams finalizing technical checks and monitoring weather conditions ahead of liftoff.
The SMILE mission will use advanced soft X-ray imaging to study Earth’s magnetosphere and interactions with solar wind, aiming to deliver breakthroughs in space weather research and scientific understanding.
