Young generations are playing a key role in revitalizing the friendship between China and the United States. At the 2025 Kuliang Forum, teens and youth highlighted the importance of people-to-people exchanges in carrying forward nearly century-old legacies.
Adam Foster, chairman emeritus of the Helen Foster Snow Foundation, brought his daughter to the forum to continue his family’s long-standing efforts to strengthen U.S.-China relations. Helen Foster Snow, a 1930s journalist in China, and her husband Edgar Snow worked to build bridges between the two nations, a legacy now embraced by the youth.
Anna Li, daughter of Flying Tiger pilot Kuo Ching Li, and Terry Steven Cox, grandson of General Joseph Stilwell, emphasized the role of the next generation in maintaining historical ties. Cultural programs, study visits, and scholarships continue to foster understanding between young Americans and Chinese communities.
Chinese Ambassador to the U.S., Xie Feng, noted that events like the China-U.S. Youth Choir Festival and Kuliang Forum, along with sports exchanges such as table tennis collaborations, are giving new energy to century-old friendships. These youth-led initiatives show that China and the U.S. can strengthen bonds and write a new chapter of cooperation.
