China’s Consul General Sun Yan said the next phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor will focus on high-quality growth, including industrialisation, agricultural modernisation, technological innovation, green development, and improved livelihoods.
He shared these remarks at a conference held in Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry on the 10th anniversary of the Gold Ring Economic Forum.
Strong Bilateral Partnership and Economic Impact
Sun Yan described Pakistan and China as an ironclad partnership built on trust and shared goals. He said CPEC has already strengthened energy security, infrastructure, and industrial capacity in Pakistan.
He added that the upcoming phase will open new opportunities for investment, job creation, and private sector participation under mutually agreed frameworks.
Gwadar Highlighted as Regional Trade Hub
The Chinese envoy emphasized the strategic importance of Gwadar, noting its potential as a key regional trade hub linking the Arabian Sea with Central Asia. He also welcomed broader international participation in CPEC.
Regional Cooperation and Economic Integration
Speakers at the conference discussed wider regional cooperation involving Pakistan, China, Iran, Türkiye, and Russia. The discussion focused on trade expansion, investment flows, and reducing barriers to economic integration.

LCCI representatives highlighted the combined market potential of the region and called for stronger financial connectivity, removal of trade barriers, and support for export-oriented sectors such as textiles, agriculture, and pharmaceuticals.

The event concluded with a shared view that CPEC 2.0 will shift toward sustainable development, deeper industrial cooperation, and expanded regional connectivity, strengthening long-term economic ties between Pakistan and China.
