The Gwadar Development Authority has started restoring damaged street lights on Marine Drive under a new solarization project.
The work began on May 10 and aims to improve lighting, tourism, and the overall appearance of the coastal road.
Solar-Powered Lights to Improve Efficiency
Under the project, authorities are replacing damaged lights from Syed Zahoor Shah Hashmi Chowk to Boat Basin with modern solar-powered street lights.
Previously, protests and political sit-ins damaged many lights along the route. As a result, nighttime visibility and the area’s attraction declined.
However, the new solar system will provide an energy-efficient and environmentally friendly solution. In addition, it will help reduce electricity costs, load shedding issues, and cable theft.
Tourism and Recreation to Benefit
Officials believe the upgraded lighting will improve recreational facilities for both residents and tourists. Moreover, visitors will enjoy better nighttime views of the Arabian Sea and the coastline.
Authorities also expect the project to strengthen Gwadar’s modern image and support tourism growth in the region.
Marine Drive Remains Key Attraction
Gwadar Marine Drive remains one of the city’s most popular tourist destinations. Every day, large numbers of visitors travel there to enjoy the coastal scenery.
Officials said the solarization project will finish soon and further enhance the beauty of the area.
