The 6th Session of Bilateral Political Consultations (BPC) between Pakistan and Tajikistan took place in Dushanbe on 29–30 September 2025. Additional Foreign Secretary (West Asia and Afghanistan) Syed Ali Asad Gillani led Pakistan’s delegation, while Deputy Foreign Minister Farrukh Sharifzoda headed Tajikistan’s side.
Both countries reviewed political, parliamentary, trade, defence, security, energy, connectivity, cultural, educational, and multilateral cooperation. Officials stressed that frequent high-level visits continue to add momentum to their partnership.
Trade promotion was a key focus. The two sides discussed expanding collaboration in textiles, logistics, agriculture, food, and pharmaceuticals. They also reaffirmed their commitment to operationalising the CASA-1000 energy project, which is vital for regional integration and energy security.
The delegations examined defence and security ties. They discussed counter-terrorism cooperation, training programs, and exchange visits. Both sides also exchanged views on regional and global developments, including South Asia and the situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir. They underlined the importance of diplomacy and adherence to the UN Charter in resolving conflicts.
During the visit, Pakistan’s Additional Secretary met Tajik officials from the transport, trade, and diplomatic training sectors. He also visited the Panji Free Economic Zone and the Panji Payon Commercial Customs Facility.
The talks took place in a cordial atmosphere. Both sides agreed to hold the 7th BPC in Islamabad in 2026.
