A Government Service Centre in Kaghan, backed by SK Hydro, has officially opened to provide faster and more accessible administrative services. The facility was inaugurated on September 5, 2025, with local officials and representatives of SK Hydro (Private) Limited in attendance.
Benefits for Local Communities
The new service centre will directly serve nearly 150,000 people. For many residents, it cuts travel distances by almost 100 kilometres, saving time and costs. Authorities noted that the centre will not only improve governance but also support Kaghan’s expanding tourism sector by offering efficient services to visitors.
SK Hydro’s Role in Community Support
At the inauguration ceremony, the Deputy Commissioner of Mansehra praised SK Hydro’s contribution to the region. He stressed that the company’s involvement goes beyond the Suki Kinari Hydropower Project. Over the years, SK Hydro has invested in education, disaster relief, and infrastructure upgrades, positively impacting local communities.
Linked with the Suki Kinari Hydropower Project
The launch of the Government Service Centre in Kaghan, backed by SK Hydro, comes as the Suki Kinari Hydropower Station approaches its first anniversary of commercial operations. As a key project under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), Suki Kinari represents both energy cooperation and community development.
Long-Term Socio-Economic Benefits
Officials highlighted that this new facility reflects how large-scale energy investments can bring long-term social and economic benefits. By combining power generation with social initiatives, projects like Suki Kinari are improving the quality of life for thousands of people in remote areas.
Boost for Tourism and Business
Local representatives also noted that the centre will encourage growth in tourism-related businesses. With easier access to administrative services, entrepreneurs, hotel owners, and transport operators will find it simpler to expand their operations. This will contribute to the regional economy and generate new employment opportunities.
Strengthening Northern Development
The establishment of this centre marks another milestone in how CPEC-linked infrastructure projects are reshaping northern Pakistan. These projects deliver not only energy but also community development, benefiting both residents and visitors.
