Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong has called on both nations to strengthen cooperation, advance their shared vision, and take concrete steps to safeguard regional peace and stability.
Speaking at a symposium marking the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, Jiang stressed the importance of implementing the consensus reached by the leadership of both countries. He said this would help accelerate the building of a “closer China-Pakistan community in the new era” through tangible actions.
The envoy highlighted the historic partnership between China and Pakistan, noting that as all-weather strategic cooperative partners and key members of the Global South and Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), the two nations have consistently supported each other on regional and global platforms while upholding the UN-centred international order.
Recalling the sacrifices of the past, Jiang said China was the first to resist fascist aggression, enduring 14 years of fierce fighting and paying a heavy price of 35 million casualties to secure victory. He also acknowledged Pakistan’s wartime contribution, noting that Karachi’s port played a crucial role in supporting allied forces, including China.
Jiang reiterated China’s commitment to multilateralism, peaceful development, and win-win cooperation. He cited the country’s active role in UN peacekeeping missions, with over 50,000 Chinese troops serving in 20 countries and regions over the past 35 years.
Under President Xi Jinping’s vision, he said, China continues to promote the Global Development Initiative, Global Security Initiative, and Global Civilisation Initiative, working toward a multipolar, inclusive, and fair global order. He further noted that through the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), China has signed agreements with more than 150 countries and provided assistance to over 160 nations.
China will soon commemorate the 80th anniversary of its victory in the war against fascism, an event Jiang described as a reminder of the shared responsibility to uphold peace and foster cooperation between China and Pakistan.
