Chinese President Xi Jinping has called for expanding mutually beneficial cooperation between China and Finland during talks with visiting Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo in Beijing.
Xi encouraged Finnish companies to strengthen their presence in China, highlighting the country’s vast market and ongoing efforts to advance high-quality development and openness. He stressed cooperation in areas including clean energy, circular economy, agriculture, forestry, and technological innovation.
The Chinese president noted that China–Finland relations have remained stable and constructive for decades, built on mutual respect and win-win cooperation. He also proposed enhanced exchanges in winter sports and people-to-people contacts.
Prime Minister Orpo reaffirmed Finland’s commitment to deepening engagement with China, supporting cooperation in trade, investment, digital economy, clean energy, and agriculture. He reiterated Finland’s adherence to the one-China policy.
Both sides agreed that China and Europe should focus on partnership rather than rivalry and work together to address global challenges through dialogue, cooperation, and multilateralism.
