Chinese President Xi Jinping on Wednesday underscored the importance of peace, justice, and shared progress while addressing a reception marking the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.
Joined by his wife, Peng Liyuan and foreign dignitaries, Xi highlighted the victory as a turning point for China, transforming the nation from a period of crisis to its journey toward rejuvenation. He also stressed that this triumph was not only a milestone for China but also for global development, achieved through the collective struggle of anti-fascist allies.
Xi reaffirmed that China will never forget the international friends who stood by its people in their resistance. He called on humanity to remain united, reject the “law of the jungle,” and work together for harmony and shared prosperity.
Reiterating China’s vision of modernisation, Xi emphasised that it is rooted in peaceful development. He assured that China will continue to be a stabilising force for global peace and progress. The president also expressed hope that nations will learn from history, prioritise peace, and collaborate in shaping a better future for humanity.
The reception concluded with cultural performances, attended by senior Chinese officials, including Premier Li Qiang, Zhao Leji, Wang Huning, Cai Qi, Ding Xuexiang, Li Xi, and Han Zheng.
