Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi is visiting South Korea and Indonesia from August 19 to 22 at the invitation of their foreign ministers.
Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, will hold talks with officials in both countries.
Wang Yi’s Visit to South Korea
During his visit to the Republic of Korea (ROK), Wang Yi will engage with Foreign Minister Cho Hyun on bilateral and regional issues.
The visit is expected to strengthen diplomatic communication between China and South Korea. It will also provide an opportunity to discuss regional cooperation.
China-Indonesia Strategic Dialogue
In Indonesia, Wang Yi will chair the first Conference of the China-Indonesia Comprehensive Strategic Dialogue Mechanism.
In addition, he will join Chinese Defense Minister Dong Jun at the second Ministerial Meeting of the China-Indonesia Joint Foreign and Defense Ministerial Dialogue.
Strengthening Regional Cooperation
The meetings highlight China’s efforts to deepen strategic and diplomatic engagement in East and Southeast Asia.
Moreover, the dialogue mechanisms provide platforms for China, Indonesia, and South Korea to address shared regional and international issues.
