The UN Security Council on Tuesday condemned in the strongest terms the deadly terrorist attacks across multiple locations in Balochistan, Pakistan, which resulted in 48 fatalities, including 31 civilians, five women, and three children. The Balochistan Liberation Army claimed responsibility for the attacks, which were described as “heinous and cowardly.”
In a statement issued from New York, the Council expressed deep sympathy for the victims’ families and wished speedy recovery to the injured. Members emphasized that terrorism in all its forms constitutes a serious threat to international peace and security and must be confronted globally.
The Security Council urged all states to actively cooperate with Pakistan in holding perpetrators, organizers, financiers, and sponsors accountable. The statement reinforced the need for international collaboration under global law, emphasizing that terrorism is criminal and unjustifiable regardless of motivation, location, or perpetrators.
