Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday launched the Artificial Intelligence-based Prime Minister Office System (PMOS), marking a major step toward the digital transformation of Pakistan’s federal government.

Speaking at the launch ceremony in Islamabad, the prime minister directed all ministries and government departments to immediately adopt the new platform, declaring an end to the traditional paper-based workflow.

“From today onwards, I will not expect anyone in my office carrying a file in his hand. Everything will be discussed through this mechanism,” he said.

AI to Modernize Government Operations

Prime Minister Shehbaz described PMOS as a transformative digital platform designed to modernize governance by recording, communicating, monitoring, and tracking every directive issued by the Prime Minister.

Moreover, he said the system would improve coordination across government institutions and ensure timely implementation of official decisions.

He also praised Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja and the Ministry of IT team for developing and operationalizing the platform.

Pakistan’s First AI-Powered Government Platform

Officials briefing the prime minister said PMOS is the first government platform in Pakistan to integrate artificial intelligence as a core component of decision-making and implementation monitoring.

The platform has been developed at the center of government to facilitate efficient communication of the prime minister’s directives while ensuring implementation according to defined quality standards.

Furthermore, PMOS provides a secure, technology-driven decision-support system by combining analytics with structured government information in a protected digital environment.

Digital Repository for Government Decisions

A key feature of the platform is its comprehensive digital repository, which records every directive issued by the prime minister along with the complete chain of implementation.

As a result, PMOS will function as both an institutional knowledge base and a permanent digital record of government decision-making.

The system is also expected to strengthen accountability by allowing officials to monitor progress and evaluate policy implementation in real time.

Supporting Better Policy Decisions

According to the official briefing, PMOS will enable continuous policy calibration by helping the government utilize technological, human, and financial resources more efficiently.

In addition, the platform is expected to improve economic decision-making through data-driven governance and real-time performance monitoring.

The government plans to implement the system first at the Prime Minister’s Office before expanding it across the wider federal administrative structure.

Driving Pakistan’s Digital Transformation

The launch of PMOS reflects Pakistan’s broader efforts to modernize public administration through digital technologies and artificial intelligence.

Consequently, the government aims to improve transparency, institutional efficiency, and service delivery while reducing reliance on manual processes.
