Security forces intercepted and shot down an Indian drone on Friday after detecting its movement in Pakistan’s Manawan area near the border, police sources confirmed.
Drone Suspected of Surveillance
The device, believed to be a surveillance drone, was recovered intact with no explosives found on board. Intelligence agencies have taken custody of the drone and launched a detailed investigation into its flight path and purpose, according to security sources.
Incident Follows Recent Border Tensions
The development comes just months after heightened military tensions between Pakistan and India in May 2025. The confrontation was triggered by an April attack on tourists in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), which India blamed on Pakistan.
In retaliation for Indian strikes, Pakistan launched Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos, targeting multiple Indian military installations. The operation resulted in the downing of six Indian fighter jets, including three Rafales, and dozens of drones.
The 87-hour conflict ended on May 10, following a US-brokered ceasefire. While India disputed US President Donald Trump’s claim that his intervention secured the truce, Pakistan credited him for helping defuse the crisis and even nominated him for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize.
