Punjab has launched a 120-session Chinese language training program for personnel of the Special Protection Unit (SPU) to strengthen communication skills and improve services for Chinese nationals working across the province.
The program began on August 5 and includes 360 hours of intensive training. Each session lasts three hours and combines language learning with cultural education.
Program Includes Language and Culture
The course consists of 96 HSK Chinese language sessions and 24 cultural education classes.
The cultural modules cover traditional Chinese festivals, calligraphy, Chinese characters, etiquette, and popular tourist attractions. As a result, participants will gain both language proficiency and cultural awareness.
Supporting Security Operations
The SPU is a specialized unit of the Punjab Police responsible for protecting foreign nationals, including Chinese professionals, investors, and workers involved in development projects.
Moreover, the training will help officers communicate more effectively with Mandarin-speaking individuals during patrols and emergency situations.
Officials believe these skills will improve response times, reduce communication barriers, and strengthen public safety.
Building Stronger Cultural Understanding
The program also aims to promote mutual understanding between law enforcement personnel and the Chinese community.
Furthermore, greater cultural awareness will help officers interact respectfully and efficiently while performing their duties.
This approach supports smoother coordination during routine security operations and official engagements.
Training Delivered by LCIA
The Lahore Chinese International Academy (LCIA) is conducting the training program.
More than 20 SPU personnel have joined the first batch. The initiative reflects ongoing efforts to strengthen institutional capacity through international cooperation and specialized training.
Strengthening Pakistan-China Cooperation
The new program highlights continued collaboration between Pakistani institutions and Chinese partners in professional development.
In addition, the initiative supports broader efforts to improve services for Chinese nationals working in Pakistan while enhancing the operational readiness of the SPU.
