President Zardari Urges Expanded Pakistan Ireland Cooperation as he emphasized strengthening bilateral ties in trade, investment, sustainable development, climate change, education, culture, tourism, and emerging technologies.
The president expressed these views during a meeting with Pakistan’s Ambassador-designate to Ireland, Ms Mariam Madiha Aftab, who called on him at the Aiwan-e-Sadr. He congratulated her on her appointment and voiced confidence in her efforts to deepen Pakistan–Ireland relations with a strong economic focus.
President Zardari encouraged initiatives to attract Irish investment in Pakistan’s Special Economic Zones and the information technology sector. He also highlighted Ireland’s upcoming Presidency of the European Union, stressing the importance of enhanced diplomatic, parliamentary, and high-level engagements.
Recalling Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto’s visit to Ireland in 1994 and a recent Senate delegation’s visit, the president underlined the need to build on historical ties. He further called for closer engagement with the Pakistani diaspora in Ireland to strengthen people-to-people relations and promote Pakistan’s positive image through cultural diplomacy and media outreach.
