PM Sharif UNGA Speech Highlights India-Pakistan Tensions

Sharif said Pakistan repelled India’s “unprovoked aggression” in May with professionalism and bravery, pointing to the downing of Indian aircraft. He praised U.S. President Donald Trump for mediating a ceasefire that prevented escalation. However, Sharif underlined that Pakistan remains ready for “composite and result-oriented dialogue” with India.

Kashmir Dispute and Indus Waters at UNGA

The prime minister warned that disputes over Kashmir and India’s move to put the Indus Water Treaty in abeyance could destabilise the region. He vowed that Pakistan would defend its rights and once again demanded a UN-supervised plebiscite in Jammu and Kashmir.

PM Sharif UNGA Speech Highlights Palestine and Gaza Crisis

Turning to the Middle East, Sharif condemned Israel’s “genocidal onslaught” in Gaza. He described the suffering of Palestinian children as “heart-wrenching.” He reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for a sovereign Palestinian state within pre-1967 borders, with Jerusalem as its capital, and urged an immediate ceasefire.

Pakistan’s Sacrifices in the Fight Against Terrorism

Sharif reminded the world that Pakistan had lost 90,000 lives and $150 billion during its fight against terrorism. He stressed that these sacrifices must be recognised internationally, as Pakistan continues to stand on the frontlines of the global struggle.

Climate Justice: Pakistan Bears a Heavy Burden

Highlighting climate injustice, the premier pointed to recent floods that displaced millions. Despite contributing less than 1% of global emissions, Pakistan remains among the most climate-vulnerable nations. “This is not fairness, not equality, not justice,” Sharif emphasised.

Call for Global Peace and Cooperation

In conclusion, the PM Sharif UNGA Speech Highlights Peace, Kashmir, Palestine, while reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to multilateralism. He urged the world to seize the moment for unity. “Let us make history,” Sharif declared, calling on the UN to remain an enduring symbol of global hope.
