Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif held important meetings with Bill Gates, Chair of the Gates Foundation, and Chief Adviser of Bangladesh Professor Muhammad Yunus on the sidelines of the 80th UN General Assembly session in New York.
During his meeting with Bill Gates, the Prime Minister expressed gratitude for the Foundation’s assistance during Pakistan’s devastating floods of 2025 and 2022. He commended its longstanding support in polio eradication, immunisation, nutrition, and financial inclusion. Shehbaz reaffirmed that polio eradication remains a national priority and underscored the government’s commitment to advancing economic reforms, cashless digitisation, and sustainable growth. Both sides agreed to deepen cooperation in health, nutrition, digital transformation, and socio-economic development.
In his meeting with Professor Muhammad Yunus, the Prime Minister emphasised Pakistan’s commitment to building constructive and forward-looking ties with Bangladesh, rooted in mutual respect and regional stability. The two leaders discussed expanding trade, enhancing regional connectivity, and promoting cultural and people-to-people exchanges. Yunus welcomed Pakistan’s initiative to strengthen engagement and stressed the importance of boosting bilateral trade and cooperation.
Both meetings highlighted Pakistan’s efforts to foster global partnerships for humanitarian support, socio-economic reforms, and regional peace.
