Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif began a three-day official visit to Saudi Arabia on Wednesday to strengthen bilateral relations and expand strategic cooperation.
A high-level Pakistani delegation is accompanying the prime minister. The delegation includes Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Syed Asim Munir, and other federal ministers.
Meeting With Crown Prince
During the visit, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will hold talks with Mohammed bin Salman.
The leaders will discuss ways to strengthen Pakistan-Saudi Arabia relations. They will also exchange views on regional and international developments of mutual interest.
Moreover, both sides are expected to review ongoing cooperation in political, economic, and strategic areas.
Deputy PM Joins Delegation
Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar will join the delegation after completing his visit to Jordan.
He made a brief stop in Madina Munawwara following his participation in the ministerial meeting on Jerusalem.
Focus on Regional Cooperation
According to the Foreign Office, the visit comes at a time of heightened tensions in the Gulf region.
However, officials said the visit extends beyond immediate regional developments. Instead, it aims to deepen strategic cooperation and strengthen long-term bilateral engagement.
Furthermore, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are expected to enhance coordination on regional and international issues while expanding cooperation in multilateral forums.
Long-Term Partnership
Pakistan and Saudi Arabia share longstanding political, economic, and security ties.
Consequently, the visit is expected to reinforce the strategic partnership and open new avenues for cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
