PCI Receives hundreds of Entries for CPEC & BRI photography Contest in Pakistan
October 7, 2023 – The Pakistan-China Institute (PCI) has launched a nationwide photography competition that showcases the remarkable progress of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), a prominent project within China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).
The competition, titled ‘Nationwide Best Belt & Road Initiative Projects Photography Competition,’ is organized by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in collaboration with PCI and has garnered significant attention.
Since its launch on October 5, the competition has witnessed an impressive influx of entries, underscoring the keen interest of photographers and enthusiasts in capturing the essence and impact of CPEC and other BRI projects in Pakistan. The photography contest comprises three categories: ‘Infrastructure and Development,’ ‘People and Stories,’ and ‘Environmental Impact.’ Participants have until October 7, 2023, to submit their entries.
A distinguished panel of photographers, artists, and relevant government authorities will judge the submitted photographs on October 8-9, with the winners set to be announced on October 10.
To celebrate the success of the competition, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and the Pakistan-China Institute will jointly host a prize distribution ceremony and an exhibition on October 12, 2023. The event is expected to draw dignitaries, officials, and members of the media.
During a follow-up meeting chaired by Ambreen Jan, Executive Director General of the External Publicity Wing of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the competition’s preparations were reviewed. Mustafa Syed, Head of PCI, and Raisa Adil, Deputy Director General of the Press Information Department (PID), among other senior officials from the ministry and its affiliated departments, reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to supporting the competition’s success across various multimedia platforms.
Mustafa Syed provided insights into the competition’s objectives, procedures, and timeline, highlighting that PCI has already received a substantial number of entries.
Additionally, it was revealed that the Pakistan-China Institute, a non-governmental think-tank dedicated to fostering people-to-people ties between Pakistan and China, plans to organize a trip to China for the award winners. This trip will include a detailed itinerary and coordination of all travel logistics.
This meeting followed a previous one held on September 25, where Secretary Information and Broadcasting Zahoor Ahmed underscored that besides spotlighting CPEC and BRI projects, the photography competition would further strengthen the deep-rooted ties between Pakistan and China. The competition has become a testament to the enthusiasm and interest surrounding the transformative projects and collaborations under the CPEC and BRI initiatives.
