Federal Minister for Climate Change and Environmental Coordination Dr Musadik Malik met Chairman NDMA Lieutenant General Inam Haider Malik to review and finalise the National Resilience Plan 2025–2026. The initiative aims to strengthen disaster preparedness ahead of the 2026 monsoon season and reduce the widespread damage caused by floods, landslides, and other natural hazards.
Dr Musadik Malik stressed that the plan must be outcome-oriented, with practical strategies to minimise losses of human lives, infrastructure, agriculture, and livestock. He emphasised the creation of a unified and effective disaster management framework that ensures swift and coordinated responses, especially for vulnerable communities.
Chairman NDMA highlighted the importance of mapping risk-prone areas across Pakistan and customising preparedness strategies for specific threats, including floods, cloudbursts, glacial melt, GLOFs, and landslides. He said localised risk assessment and tailored solutions would play a central role in enhancing resilience.
The minister acknowledged weaknesses in the current fragmented disaster response system and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to working with NDMA and stakeholders to build an integrated, comprehensive, and efficient national framework for disaster risk reduction.
