A delegation from the Chinese Embassy, led by Chargé d’Affaires Shi Yuanqiang, visited the National Emergencies Operation Centre (NEOC) at the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) headquarters on Friday. The visit included a detailed briefing on the recent flood situation, relief efforts, and disaster preparedness initiatives.
NDMA Chairman Lieutenant General Inam Haider Malik highlighted coordinated strategies with provincial governments, Provincial Disaster Management Authorities (PDMAs), and regional institutions to ensure timely relief, rescue, and rehabilitation operations. He stressed the integration of modern technology, disaster early warning systems, and anticipatory actions to strengthen response capacity.
The NDMA team also briefed the Chinese envoy on weather monitoring, risk communication, and local simulation exercises designed to align Pakistan’s practices with global disaster management standards.
Shi Yuanqiang commended Pakistan’s timely and effective response, describing NDMA’s measures as exemplary in protecting lives and livelihoods during the monsoon season. He expressed condolences for the lives lost in floods and reaffirmed China’s commitment to fully support Pakistan in relief and rehabilitation efforts.
