Stronger Coordination Against Narcotics
Pakistan and the UAE step up their joint anti-narcotics strategy after a high-level meeting in Islamabad. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met Sheikh Zayed bin Hamad bin Hamdan Al Nahyan, Chairman of the UAE’s new National Anti-Narcotics Authority, to push forward cooperation against drug trafficking.
Practical Steps for Closer Cooperation
Both sides discussed anti-narcotics measures and agreed on stronger joint action against trafficking networks. To improve coordination, Pakistan appointed DG Anti-Narcotics Force Major General Abdul Mueed as the focal person. Meanwhile, the UAE nominated Brigadier Taher Gharib as its representative.
Mr. Naqvi congratulated Sheikh Zayed on leading the UAE’s authority, calling it a vital step for regional security. He also noted Pakistan had arrested over 400 suspects linked to trafficking into the UAE and seized more than five tons of narcotics.
Shared Goals for the Future
Mr. Naqvi stressed that fighting drugs is a national priority. He warned about the growing threat of synthetic narcotics and emphasised that Pakistan treats drug smugglers with an iron hand. “This is a war for the future of our generation,” he said.
Sheikh Zayed reaffirmed the UAE’s full cooperation. He underlined the importance of stronger bilateral action to protect the region from narcotics and ensure a safer future.
