High-Level Meeting at Joint Staff Headquarters
Staff Major General Humaid Mohammed Abdulla Alremeithi, Commander of the United Arab Emirates Naval Forces, paid an official visit to Pakistan, where he held discussions with Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Sahir Shamshad Mirza at the Joint Staff Headquarters in Rawalpindi.
The talks focused on global and regional security challenges, with both leaders emphasising the importance of enhanced defence and maritime cooperation for regional stability. General Alremeithi praised Pakistan’s professional armed forces and their sacrifices in the fight against terrorism.
Guard of Honour for Visiting Dignitary
Earlier, upon arrival at the Joint Staff Headquarters, the UAE naval chief was presented with a Guard of Honour by a smartly turned-out tri-services contingent, marking the ceremonial importance of his visit.
Nishan-e-Imtiaz (Military) Conferred by President Zardari
In a separate ceremony at Aiwan-e-Sadr, President Asif Ali Zardari conferred the prestigious Nishan-e-Imtiaz (Military) on General Alremeithi. The award recognised his services in strengthening Pakistan-UAE defence ties.
President Zardari praised the UAE’s participation in Exercise Aman-25 and reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to supporting the UAE Navy’s manpower and training requirements. He termed bilateral relations “extraordinary and exemplary,” rooted in both strategic interests and deep fraternal bonds.
Personal Connection with Pakistan
General Alremeithi recalled his personal bond with Pakistan, having studied at the Pakistan Naval Academy in Karachi for four years.
Reinforcing Bilateral Defence and Maritime Cooperation
The visit reaffirmed Pakistan and the UAE’s commitment to deepen defence and maritime collaboration, which both sides view as central to ensuring regional security and protecting vital trade routes.
