President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday and Wednesday extended heartfelt congratulations to the government and people of China on their 76th National Day, marking the founding of the People’s Republic in 1949.
In his message, President Zardari described the anniversary as a reflection of China’s remarkable journey of progress, unity, and innovation. He lauded President Xi Jinping’s vision of people-centric governance, shared prosperity, and global cooperation, calling it an inspiration for the world. The president emphasised that Pakistan-China ties are “time-tested and multifaceted,” highlighting his recent visits to Beijing, where both nations reaffirmed commitments to trade, infrastructure development, and security cooperation. He also stressed the importance of enhancing collaboration in science, education, technology, and culture to further strengthen people-to-people connections.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in his message, hailed the “enduring and unbreakable” bond between the two countries, which he said continues to grow stronger with time. He praised China’s progress under President Xi’s leadership, describing it as a model of stability and prosperity for the world. Referring to his recent visit, the prime minister called it “highly fruitful,” noting milestones such as investment agreements worth billions of dollars signed during the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit and the Pakistan-China B2B conference. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), which has now entered its second phase, underscoring its role as the cornerstone of the bilateral economic partnership.
Both leaders concluded with warm wishes for China’s continued success and prosperity, reiterating the traditional slogan: “Long live Pakistan-China friendship.”
