The Chinese Embassy in Pakistan hosted a symposium and photo exhibition in Islamabad to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.
The event brought together key dignitaries, including Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong, Deputy Speaker of Pakistan’s National Assembly Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah, senior government officials, political leaders, think tank representatives, and media personnel. Former Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee Gen (R) Zubair Hayat and former Federal Caretaker Minister for Information and Parliamentary Affairs Murtaza Solangi also addressed the gathering. The symposium was co-moderated by Wang Shengjie, Counsellor at the Chinese Embassy, and Mustafa Hyder Sayed, Executive Director of the Pakistan-China Institute.
In his keynote speech, Ambassador Jiang Zaidong highlighted China’s historic role in the global victory over fascism, crediting the Communist Party of China (CPC) for uniting the nation under the banner of resistance and playing a decisive role in the war. He noted that the current international order faces serious challenges, stressing the need for China and Pakistan, two prominent members of the Global South, to work together in defending the post-war peace, promoting genuine multilateralism, and safeguarding the rights of developing nations.
Deputy Speaker Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah praised the Chinese people and military for their sacrifices in defending peace in Asia and beyond. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to stand alongside China against unilateralism and hegemonism, advocating for peaceful development and mutually beneficial cooperation.
The event underscored the shared historical ties between China and Pakistan, as well as their continued commitment to global peace, stability, and development.
