Pakistan committed to work with Iran closely: PM Shehbaz Sharif stated during his meeting with Iranian President.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s firm commitment to working closely with Iran to promote regional peace through dialogue and diplomacy.
He made this statement during a meeting with Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian on the sidelines of the 17th ECO Summit held in Khankendi, Azerbaijan, on Friday.
Both leaders reviewed the ongoing bilateral cooperation and expressed satisfaction with the progress made on decisions reached during their previous meeting, reaffirming their resolve to further strengthen Pakistan-Iran relations.
They also exchanged views on the evolving regional situation, particularly in light of Israel’s illegitimate aggression against Iran.
Prime Minister Shehbaz praised President Pezeshkian’s leadership and welcomed Iran’s decision to reach a ceasefire during the recent crisis.
In response, President Pezeshkian expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s strong diplomatic support during the crisis, including at international forums, and acknowledged Islamabad’s significant role in helping to de-escalate tensions.
Prime Minister Shehbaz also requested President Pezeshkian to convey his warm greetings and best wishes to His Eminence the Supreme Leader of Iran.
