Fighter aircraft from the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) earned top accolades in two categories at the 2025 Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT) in the UK, one of the world’s premier military aviation events.
RIAT, held from July 18 to 20, has a legacy spanning over five decades and supports the Royal Air Force Charitable Trust.
On Thursday, a PAF team arrived at RAF Fairford in the UK, featuring the cutting-edge JF-17 Thunder Block-III fighter jet and the C-130 Hercules transport aircraft to participate in the prestigious airshow, according to a statement by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The JF-17 Block-III received the “Spirit of the Meet Trophy” in recognition of its eye-catching design and impressive journey from Pakistan to the UK, which included continuous air-to-air refuelling.
ISPR highlighted that this successful long-range deployment was enabled by air-to-air refuelling conducted with support from a PAF IL-78 tanker aircraft. Meanwhile, the C-130H Hercules was honoured with the “Concours d’Elegance Trophy”.

These accolades were awarded for the aircrafts’ exceptional performance in flight and technical presentation.
The JF-17C Block III showcases Pakistan’s advanced defence engineering and its growing aerospace capabilities.
This international recognition marks a proud moment for Pakistan’s aviation industry on the global stage.
The achievement at RIAT is seen as a strong endorsement of the operational competence of the Pakistan Air Force.
Earlier in May, during escalated tensions with India, the PAF confirmed that Kamra-based 15 Squadron led the successful mission that shot down Indian jets in response to late-night airstrikes, making it one of the largest air-to-air encounters in South Asia in over 50 years.
Anticipation was high in the UK defence and aviation circles as the JF-17 Thunder Block-III’s arrival was eagerly awaited, especially after its prominent role in the recent Pakistan-India conflict.
The aircraft’s proven combat effectiveness and advanced operational capabilities have drawn substantial global attention, solidifying its appearance at RIAT as a major highlight in the defence aviation community.
