Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf has underscored the importance of maintaining sustained combat readiness to effectively counter evolving conventional and unconventional threats in the maritime domain.
He expressed these views while chairing the concluding session of the Command and Staff Conference held at the Naval Headquarters on Wednesday. The high-level forum serves as the apex decision-making platform of the Pakistan Navy, where the naval leadership, including principal staff officers and field commanders, deliberates on strategic priorities, operational preparedness, and long-term policy directions.
Addressing the participants, Admiral Ashraf highlighted the Pakistan Navy’s pivotal contribution to regional peace, stability, and maritime security. He reaffirmed the force’s unwavering resolve to safeguard national sovereignty and defend every inch of Pakistan’s maritime frontiers. The naval chief further emphasised that the Navy’s readiness is not only a matter of defence but also a critical factor in ensuring safe and secure seas for trade, cooperation, and regional prosperity.
During the conference, participants carried out a comprehensive review of the Navy’s ongoing operational activities, plans, and key initiatives aimed at strengthening maritime capabilities. The discussions also covered preparations for the upcoming Pakistan International Maritime Expo and Conference (PIMEC), a major event designed to showcase Pakistan’s maritime potential and promote regional collaboration.
According to a statement from the Pakistan Navy’s spokesperson, the Command and Staff Conference provided a platform for detailed evaluation of operational readiness, fleet modernisation, and technological advancements. Strategic assessments were also made to ensure that naval policies remain aligned with Pakistan’s broader national security and economic objectives.
