The Government of Balochistan’s Women Development Department has completed a dedicated women’s market in Gwadar New Town on April 6. The project aims to create employment opportunities for local women and strengthen their role in the economy.
The Gwadar Development Authority (GDA) said the market is a key step in improving both economic and social conditions in the coastal city. It is part of broader efforts to support women’s participation in business through targeted programs.
The market provides a formal platform for women to start and grow small businesses. It allows entrepreneurs to transform skills into income while accessing more stable livelihoods.
Officials noted that women’s participation in Gwadar’s business sector has been rising in recent years, contributing positively to economic activity and social development.
They added that promoting female entrepreneurship will be crucial for Gwadar’s long-term growth as the city expands into a regional economic hub.
