The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has announced special facilitation measures for taxpayers who previously filed manual income tax returns, supporting Pakistan’s ongoing transition to a fully digital tax system.
Manual return submissions were discontinued from Tax Year 2024, and recognizing that some taxpayers may face challenges adapting to online filing, the FBR has established dedicated support cells in every tax office. These cells provide free legal and technical assistance for registration and online return filing.
The filing deadline for manual filers has been extended until 30th November 2025, under Section 214A of the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001. Taxpayers are encouraged to visit their local offices for guidance and support to ensure smooth, error-free submissions.
According to Income Tax Circular No. 6 of 2025-26, this initiative reflects FBR’s commitment to a transparent, efficient, and digitized tax system. The board confirmed that support will include access to legal advisors for those requiring assistance during the filing process.
FBR officials emphasized that digital filing offers faster processing, easier record-keeping, and reduced compliance costs. This facilitation program aims to promote digital compliance nationwide, making the system more accessible while improving taxpayer convenience.
By providing guidance, extending deadlines, and offering free support, the FBR is ensuring a smooth transition for manual filers and reinforcing Pakistan’s move toward a fully digital, paperless, and transparent tax framework.
