Dassu-Sazin KKH Upgrade Strengthens China-Pakistan Corridor
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The Frontier Works Organization has been awarded the contract to rehabilitate and upgrade the 58-kilometer Dassu-Sazin section of the historic Karakoram Highway (KKH). The National Highway Authority (NHA) selected FWO as the lowest evaluated bidder at Rs 5.6 billion under PPRA rules, ensuring a transparent and efficient procurement process.

Financed through NHA’s Road Maintenance Account, the project is part of efforts to modernize KKH, also called National Highway-35 (N-35), a strategic corridor linking Pakistan and China. The upgrade will improve road safety, reduce travel time, and strengthen trade and economic cooperation between the two nations.

KKH is regarded as a historic symbol of Pakistan-China friendship and regional connectivity. The Dassu-Sazin section upgrade will enhance commercial transport, improve infrastructure resilience, and support long-term economic integration, further solidifying the highway’s role as a key China-Pakistan trade and transport corridor.
