Three suspected militants linked to the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), specifically its Tipu Gul faction, were killed during a joint intelligence-based operation by the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and local police in Lakki Marwat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa late Friday night, police confirmed on Saturday.

According to a statement by Aamir Khan, spokesperson for Lakki Marwat police, the operation took place in the Bathani Neh area near Harama village and resulted in the deaths of three militants wanted for serious crimes.

The militants were allegedly involved in the targeted killings of CTD official Waheedullah, Traffic Constable Anwar Sher, and Constable Idrees, as per the police statement.

The encounter reportedly lasted around 25 minutes, during which three high-profile militants were neutralized.

The deceased were identified as Waseemullah alias Umar Khattab, Qudratullah alias Abu Bakr, and Hijratullah alias Hijrat, all residents of various areas within Lakki Marwat district.

The police further stated that these individuals were on CTD Bannu’s most-wanted list for their involvement in IED blasts, attacks on police, and other serious terrorist activities.

Lakki Marwat has remained a center of terrorist activity and violence since the early 2000s, with the situation deteriorating in recent months despite efforts by peace committees to stabilize the region.

Just last week, a peace committee leader and two of his associates were gunned down by terrorists in the same district.

Earlier in June, a separate operation in Kot Kashmir area of Lakki Marwat led to the deaths of three militants during a shootout with police and local peace committee members, in which one policeman was martyred.
