 CPEC Reflects the Enduring Friendship Between China and Pakistan, Says Consul General

Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Lahore, Mr. Zhao Shiren, highlighted the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) as a shining example and symbol of the deepening friendship and partnership between China and Pakistan. He shared these sentiments during a media interaction in the Meet the Press Program at the Lahore Press Club.

Mr. Zhao Shiren emphasized that CPEC, a joint venture between China and Pakistan, has not only completed a decade but will continue to move forward successfully. With an investment of $26 billion so far and ongoing construction activities, CPEC remains a vital initiative. He specifically mentioned the upgrading of the electric transmission line, indicating continuous efforts to enhance infrastructure.

Expressing China’s commitment to bringing prosperity to its old friend, Pakistan, Mr. Zhao Shiren acknowledged Pakistan’s agricultural focus, especially the ten-year plan formulated by the Punjab government for agricultural development. He expressed the Consulate General’s readiness to collaborate with Punjab in advancing agricultural cooperation.

Touching on regional dynamics, Mr. Zhao Shiren highlighted the strong friendship among China, Pakistan, and Iran. He assured that the three countries would move forward collectively in the region. Regarding Pakistan and Iran, he expressed optimism that any existing issues would soon be resolved, and the situation would return to its previous positive state, emphasizing the avoidance of conflicts between the two nations.
