Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi Hails 3rd BRF as a Milestone in Belt and Road Development

The third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation (BRF) recently concluded, and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi described it as a “complete success” and a significant milestone in the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). During a press conference, Wang Yi highlighted the forum’s key outcomes and emphasized its role in advancing high-quality Belt and Road cooperation.

One of the most important achievements of the forum was the consensus to open a new stage of high-quality Belt and Road cooperation. Wang Yi, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, underlined that this new phase of cooperation will not only benefit the global economy but also contribute positively to the global situation. It represents a collective effort to modernize the world and has already made significant progress.

The Belt and Road Initiative has provided a platform for countries to cooperate in achieving common development and has accelerated the modernization of many developing nations. Over the course of the forum, an impressive total of 458 outcomes were achieved, surpassing the accomplishments of the previous BRF. These achievements reflect the substantial impact and collaborative spirit of the BRI.

Wang Yi also noted that the Belt and Road Initiative has become one of the most popular international public goods and the largest international cooperation platform worldwide. It offers opportunities for countries to engage in mutually beneficial projects and initiatives.

Crucially, Wang Yi emphasized that the Belt and Road is an open platform, and all countries are welcome to participate at any time. This inclusivity encourages global cooperation and development, promoting shared prosperity.

Wang Yi further called for connectivity initiatives from other countries to remain open and avoid creating exclusive groups or cliques. China is committed to aligning with other connectivity initiatives, fostering a cooperative environment that benefits all parties involved.

Addressing concerns about the U.S.-launched Partnership for Global Infrastructure and Investment, Wang Yi asserted that it is not directed at the Belt and Road. He regarded such claims as a form of politicization of economic matters, highlighting the importance of maintaining open and cooperative relationships in the global infrastructure and investment sector.

In summary, the 3rd BRF has not only solidified the BRI’s position as a global force for cooperation and development but has also ushered in a new phase of high-quality Belt and Road cooperation. It emphasizes inclusivity, collaboration, and mutual benefit, underlining the commitment of China to work with all nations to achieve common goals in the realm of connectivity and development. The Belt and Road Initiative continues to evolve as a driving force for positive change on the global stage.
