Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held talks with Tajikistan’s Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Muhriddin in Tianjin, northern China, on Wednesday.
Wang, who is also a member of the CPC Central Committee’s Political Bureau, noted that the two nations’ leaders have set clear directions and plans for deepening their comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership in the new era.
He emphasized that China is ready to work closely with Tajikistan to implement the outcomes of the presidential-level consensus, coordinate future high-level engagements, and jointly contribute to the success of the upcoming SCO summit in Tianjin.
Wang reaffirmed China’s strong support for Tajikistan’s independent development path tailored to its national context and backed President Emomali Rahmon’s long-term vision for the country. He stressed China’s opposition to any external interference in Tajikistan’s internal affairs.
He further proposed that both sides actively implement their inter-governmental economic and trade cooperation plan, improve connectivity, and expand cooperation in key sectors such as investment, energy, counter-terrorism, and security to advance bilateral ties.
In response, Muhriddin expressed Tajikistan’s full support for China in ensuring the success of what he called a historic SCO Tianjin summit.
He highlighted that under the leadership of both heads of state, China-Tajikistan relations have entered a new phase with strong development momentum.
Muhriddin also expressed Tajikistan’s readiness to enhance bilateral cooperation through existing mechanisms, promote inter-party and parliamentary exchanges, and deepen collaboration in areas including trade, investment, infrastructure, healthcare, digital technology, and education—aiming to elevate the strategic partnership to new heights.
