Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held a meeting with Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov on Wednesday in Tianjin.
Wang, who also serves as a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, highlighted that the recent meeting between the presidents of China and Uzbekistan at the second China-Central Asia Summit was cordial and productive, resulting in strategic planning for the future of bilateral relations.
He emphasized China’s willingness to work closely with Uzbekistan to implement the leaders’ consensus, prepare for upcoming high-level exchanges, and elevate the quality and depth of their bilateral ties.
Wang reaffirmed that China considers Uzbekistan a priority in its neighborhood diplomacy and supports its efforts to uphold national independence, sovereignty, security, and development.
He urged both sides to accelerate collaboration in major areas, particularly pushing for the early operation of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan Railway, and to achieve greater outcomes in bilateral cooperation.
Wang also expressed China’s readiness to work with Uzbekistan and other SCO members to ensure a successful Tianjin summit, thereby strengthening the organization’s momentum.
In response, Saidov praised China’s historic development achievements and expressed interest in learning from China’s experience.
He noted that under the guidance of their leaders, China-Uzbekistan relations have been upgraded to an all-weather comprehensive strategic partnership, with significant progress in practical cooperation.
Saidov added that Uzbekistan is keen to expand collaboration with China in fields such as logistics, mineral development, artificial intelligence, green transformation, and desertification control, while also deepening coordination on regional and global matters to safeguard shared interests.
He concluded by affirming that Uzbekistan supports the positive outcomes of the recent SCO foreign ministers’ meeting and will continue to fully back China in successfully hosting the Tianjin summit.
