Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held a meeting with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Wednesday in Tianjin, north China. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to supporting each other on matters related to their core national interests.
Wang Yi, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, emphasized China’s readiness to work closely with Pakistan to implement the consensus reached by their respective leaders and advance the building of a China-Pakistan community with a shared future.
He noted that China will enhance strategic dialogue with Pakistan, promote high-quality development of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), and expand cooperation in areas such as agriculture, industry, and mining. He also highlighted plans to jointly organize celebrations for the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2026.
Wang reiterated China’s support for Pakistan’s anti-terrorism efforts and expressed concern for the safety of Chinese citizens in Pakistan. He conveyed confidence that Pakistan will continue to protect Chinese personnel, projects, and institutions operating in the country.
In response, Ishaq Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s adherence to the one-China principle and its support for China on all issues of core concern.
He further expressed Pakistan’s full support for China’s hosting of the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit in Tianjin and emphasized Pakistan’s desire to deepen comprehensive cooperation with China, while pledging continued efforts to ensure the safety of Chinese nationals and assets in Pakistan.
