China’s private company InterstellOr unveiled its first full-scale commercial crewed spacecraft test capsule, CYZ1, in Chengdu. The company has already booked over three spacecraft for more than 20 space tourists and aims for the first crewed flight in 2028.
CYZ1 is designed for full reusability, targeting a 99% reusability rate by mass. The spacecraft emphasizes user experience and draws on international design concepts while building on China’s Shenzhou and next-gen crewed spacecraft technologies.
Space tourists will undergo professional pre-flight training covering aerospace knowledge, spacecraft operations, and emergency procedures. InterstellOr expects the commercial space sector to boost industries like spacecraft manufacturing, space biomedicine, AI, and aerospace components.
