China will stage a grand V-Day military parade on September 3 in Beijing, featuring a powerful display of its latest air combat capabilities. According to Xinhua, the event will mark the debut of several advanced aircraft from the Army, Navy, and Air Force, showcasing the People’s Liberation Army’s (PLA) growing strength in joint operations and modern warfare.
Debut of Advanced Combat Aircraft
Many of the aircraft to fly over Tian’anmen Square will be making their parade debut. These include newly developed combat planes equipped with advanced weapon systems designed for high-intensity warfare. Organisers said the display will reflect the PLA’s determination to safeguard China’s airspace, deter adversaries, and demonstrate world-class military hardware.
Joint Operations and Combat Formation
The air echelons will be organised in a combat-oriented structure, integrating early warning, transport, and strike aircraft from multiple branches of the PLA. Several formations will mix different aircraft types, symbolising the armed forces’ capability to conduct joint operations in real combat scenarios. Helicopters will also carry banners and form numeral-shaped groups to highlight the parade’s theme.
Honouring History and Peace
The parade commemorates the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. With banners, flags, and symbolic aerial formations, the event will emphasise the themes of “Remember History, Honour the Martyrs, Cherish Peace, and Create the Future.”
Veteran Units and Elite Pilots
Participating squadrons include historic PLA units with distinguished combat records. Many pilots are award-winning aviators, including winners of the “Golden Helmet” and “Gold Darts” contests, underlining both tradition and modern excellence in China’s air power.
