During the Week of Chinese and Russian Literature 2025 and the China-Russia Writers Dialogue Conference in Beijing, three major cooperation agreements were signed between leading literary and cultural institutions from both countries. The agreements mark a significant step in strengthening bilateral cultural relations.
Dmitry Bak, director of the V.I. Dahl State Museum of Russian Literary History, praised the professionalism and dedication of Chinese colleagues in promoting Leo Tolstoy’s heritage. He highlighted exhibitions held in Guangdong cities that introduced Russian literature to Chinese audiences and emphasized the emerging creative collaborations between translators from both countries.
Zhang Hongsen, chairman of the China Writers Association, noted that the event provides a professional and public platform for cultural exchange, using literature as a bridge to enhance mutual understanding and people-to-people connectivity between China and Russia.
Russian experts, including Anna Timokova of Penza State University, stressed that such initiatives expand cultural boundaries, allow each side to share artistic expressions, and provide material for scholarly analysis, identifying common literary themes and trends. The collaborative efforts contribute to shaping the cultural agenda of both nations while enriching global literature.
