China and Pakistan celebrated 75 years of diplomatic relations with a cultural gala at the illuminated Badaling Great Wall in Beijing.
The 2026 Beijing International Great Wall Concert carried the theme “An Ode to Ironclad Friendship.” The event brought together diplomats, dignitaries, and artists from both countries.
Great Wall Concert Celebrates Bilateral Ties
The gala featured traditional Chinese music and Pakistani Sufi Qawwali. These performances highlighted the cultural connections between the two countries.
The Embassy of Pakistan in Beijing and the China International Cultural Communication Center (CICCC) jointly organized the event. The People’s Government of Yanqing District also supported the concert.
Senior diplomats, former Pakistani foreign secretaries and ambassadors, Chinese dignitaries, and artists attended the gathering.
Badaling Holds Special Significance
Pakistan’s Ambassador to China Khalil Hashmi highlighted the historic importance of the venue.
Badaling also has a special connection with Pakistan-China relations. The section between Watchtowers 6 and 7 was restored in 1989 with support from the Government of Pakistan.
Hashmi said music and dance can turn cultural heritage into a shared experience. He also emphasized their role in strengthening cultural and civilizational connections.
Music Strengthens Cultural Friendship
The performances created a platform for artistic and cultural exchange between the two countries.
Traditional Chinese melodies blended with Pakistani Sufi Qawwali during the evening. Together, they reflected the longstanding friendship between China and Pakistan.
Moreover, the concert showed how cultural exchanges complement diplomatic and economic cooperation.
Celebrating 75 Years of Relations
China and Pakistan established diplomatic relations in 1951. Since then, their partnership has expanded across multiple areas.
Today, both countries describe their relationship as an all-weather strategic cooperative partnership.
The Great Wall concert added a cultural dimension to the celebrations marking 75 years of bilateral relations.
