China and Pakistan are further strengthening their all-weather strategic partnership through expanded cooperation in infrastructure, governance, and public welfare. In recent high-level engagements, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to shared growth and modernisation.
Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi met with Jiang Yi, Secretary General of the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), in Islamabad to discuss technical cooperation and investment in Pakistan’s railway network. The talks focused on freight modernisation, cross-border logistics, and public-private partnerships under the Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) model. The Chinese delegation expressed interest in developing key projects, including the Rohri-Peshawar, Nokundi-Gwadar, and ML-2 corridors, which aim to improve connectivity and trade routes linking Pakistan with Central Asia.
Meanwhile, China’s Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong underscored Beijing’s willingness to share its development experience as Pakistan implements its Uraan Five-Year Plan. Speaking after the 20th CPC Central Committee session in Beijing, he highlighted China’s newly adopted 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030), focused on high-quality growth, reform, and innovation. The ambassador noted that China’s success in lifting 99 million people from poverty provides a model for Pakistan, especially in areas like agricultural modernisation, rural development, and poverty alleviation.
Jiang also announced China’s intent to construct 100 hospitals and establish new economic zones in Balochistan to generate employment and improve water management. He revealed plans for student exchange programs and technical training to strengthen educational cooperation.
Senator Sherry Rehman, chairing the Pakistan-China Friendship Group at Parliament House, welcomed China’s continued support, emphasising that such initiatives reflect the depth and durability of the two nations’ “iron-clad” friendship, one that continues to evolve from infrastructure to people-centred development.
